The Crab and Lobster Festival is a weekend celebration of two lovely coastal towns, Cromer and Sheringham. Historically great rivals, but now joining together as two of Norfolk's premier seaside destinations. The Festival raises money for local charities, and benefits the local economy by attracting more visitors to this wonderful part of the world. It is organised by a diverse group of busy volunteers who live and work here, helping to foster a real sense of community... and fun!
2014 is our 5th festival, and each year we're getting bigger and better, creating a truly enjoyable event. We've got some exciting new ideas, so make sure you get these dates in your diary.
Local businesses and individuals sponsor the boat planters, and an enthusiastic band of artists, schools & other groups create unique designs for each.
The trail lasts nearly 5 months, and it's great fun to explore the towns whilst spotting some of the fabulously decorated Bootiful Boats. All will be auctioned in August, and the funds raised give a great boost to local charities & organisations.
Many local restaurants, cafe's, hotels and pubs serve great food... much locally sourced and as fresh as it comes... especially the seafood! Each year we aim to create a list of places serving truly delicious fare at prices to suit all pockets. Dive in for some tasty treats and vote online for your favourite feast!
Art & Food Trail leaflets will be available from Tourist Information Centres and around the towns from Easter to September.
Online voting starts at Easter.
Every year we aim to improve our theatre with new and exciting chefs, as well as many of our local rising stars. There's a great mix of cooking & tasting, and this year we are delighted to have The East of England Cooperative Society as our major Festival sponsor.
Cromer and Sheringham's crab and lobster fishing industries have supplied England with a rich abundance of crustacea since the early 19th Century, and today they still offer a delicious and sustainable harvest from the sea... Our crab dressing competitions are always great fun!
The Festival's team of volunteers from both towns aim to make each Crab & Lobster Festival a successful, memorable, fun, entertaining and informative weekend. It's such a wonderful way to get together and celebrate our way of life here... and a great opportunity to encourage visitors to come along and enjoy what we have to offer during the early part of the season.
